Hello! friends today we have an official notice from Nepal government that there are many social media platform running in Nepal without registration in Nepal. The offices of all the media with officials or Nepal representative should be there in Nepal after registering in Nepal.
If Social Media are not registered in Nepal within below prescribed time all the social media will be deactivated as per the Nepal government rule.

Official Notice of Nepal Government Regarding Social Media Platform Registration in Nepal (Without Edits)
Notice by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology
on Managing the Social Networking Platform Usage in Nepal
(Date: 2025/08/28)
In connection with the contempt of court case (Case No. 080-CF-0012), the Full Bench
of the Supreme Court has issued a directive order in the name of the Government of
Nepal, requiring that all online and social media platforms, whether of domestic or
foreign origin, must mandatorily be registered with the competent authority prior to
their operation. In compliance with the said order, the Government of Nepal (Council of
Ministers), by its decision dated 2025/08/26, hereby notifies the concerned stakeholders
as follows:
- All social media platforms currently operating in Nepal that have not yet been registered are required to mandatorily register with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology within seven (7) days from the date of publication of this notice. Furthermore, each such platform must designate within Nepal:
- a Point of Contact,
- a Resident Grievance Handling Officer, and
- an Officer responsible for monitoring compliance with self-regulation.
- Any social media platform failing to register within the prescribed time limit under this notice, or failing to establish contact for the purpose of registration, shall be progressively deactivated within Nepal. Conversely, any platform completing the registration process shall be reactivated immediately from the moment of such registration. For this purpose, necessary directions have been issued to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority.
- Similarly, any individual, company, or institution intending to operate a social media platform in Nepal shall be required to submit an application for registration of such platform to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in accordance with the Directives on Regulating the Use of Social Media, 2080, issued by the Government of Nepal. Such application must be submitted in the format prescribed in Schedule-1 of the said Directives, together with the requisite supporting documents.
- Additionally, any such individual, company, or institution seeking registration shall be required to designate in Nepal a Point of Contact, a Resident Grievance Handling Officer, and an Officer responsible for monitoring compliance with self-regulation, as herein clarified.
